Dairies

Moore County is now home to several dairies. Facilities are located 6 miles west of Dumas on U.S. Highway 87, just to our north, to the northwest off of U.S. Highway 287, and new ones are currently being planned. These facilities employ roughly 200 people and they will be working cows numbering in excess of 35,000! These new dairy owners have decades of experience in the industry. This new industry to our area has opened up many doors of opportunities. New dairy construction and service businesses have located in Dumas in anticipation of these farms. Located just 35 miles east of Hilmar Farms Cheese Plant, and in close proximity to a metropolitan area, Dumas just sells itself! Moore County's biggest dairy family has rapidly made Dumas home and will become the biggest dairy owner in the region. The climate is great and the agricultural support is wonderful! We know the dairy industry is striving to be the best stewards of the land possible and have embraced new technologies and better methods. We welcome this mentality to our community.
