| Dumas Attracts New Distribution Firm |
|
Dumas, Texas April 22, 2010- Rosen’s Inc., a subsidiary of Rosen’s Diversified headquartered in Fairmont Minnesota, has selected the Dumas, Texas Business Park to build a new 20,000 square foot distribution center. Rosen’s Inc. leads the industry in developing innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for today’s agribusiness. They provide crop protection products to twenty-two key states from eleven distribution centers. They carry all major brands as well as their own line of proprietary products. Rosen’s anticipates the construction of their facility in the Dumas Business Park for inventory storage, as well as a 1200 square foot office building. They have been granted acreage in the park, tax abatement and job creation incentives to locate in the community. This new facility would support distribution of agricultural products in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas providing a local economic impact of $13 million over the next ten years. Construction is planned for this summer and they plan to hire 10 new full and part-time employees to operate the facility. Rosen’s is considered an excellent community member that will be a welcome addition to the continually growing Dumas economy. “We are optimistic about our future relationship with Rosen’s Diversified” explains Mike Running, Executive Director of the Dumas Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), “They have been extremely great to work with and we are excited about the business activity that they will bring to our community”. The Rosen’s Diversified website explains how they enjoy actively supporting their communities. “At Rosen’s Diversified Inc, we strive to play an active role in all eleven of our communities. From blood drives to charity events, scholarships to softball fields, RDI is a generous and compassionate company.” Anticipated to increase the growing distribution market for the community, the Dumas Economic Development Corporation has estimated an increase in local sales for supplies and services to Rosen’s to be over a half million dollars each year. “We have one of the greatest locations for distribution centers and trucking operations. We are within 8 hours of 14 different major cities, within 1-2 hours of three major interstates and we have direct access to markets in Mexico and Canada via the Ports to Plains International Trade Corridor”, states Running. The Ports to Plains Corridor has been identified as the fastest growing trade corridor in the United States and the DEDC hopes to maximize this opportunity. Rosen’s Inc. has selected Dumas as its location in order to support its existing clientele and locate new opportunities that exist within the region. The DEDC has an existing 265 acre Business Park adjacent to US 287 and are currently planning to construct a new Commercial Center in order to provide space to new and expanding companies wishing to locate in the region at a nominal cost. “We believe that if we provide space at no or low lease rates, firms will be able to economically try us out for a period of time without hurting their bottom line” says Running. This plan has proven successful as DEDC has successfully helped land over 10 new businesses just in the last two years. It was the proactive and aggressive measures taken by Running and the DEDC that helped attract Rosen’s. “Some of the best business opportunities are found in our own neighborhood” exclaims Running, “Rosen’s had a sales person in the area and we spoke with him early on about how we could get his company to locate here”. Shown the benefits of this strategic location and the enthusiasm afforded by the community, the rest, as they say, is history. Dumas Economic Development Corporation is a recognized economic development entity in the state of Texas. Mike Running has been with the Corporation since March 2008 and is aggressively seeking out new business and industry projects for the community. The Dumas Business Park has 265 acres of land that the DEDC can provide to firms looking to locate and expand in the community. The Dumas EDC is authorized under state law to provide incentives to businesses that provide economic vitality to the community.
