Shipping and Distribution

Shipping & Distribution

Dumas is uniquely positioned in the center of the United States. With truck and rail access in all directions, we are sure to help reduce your distribution costs! The Dumas Business Park, located off of US 287, is primed for your new distribution center with all underground utilities. Low business costs, economic stability and easy market access makeUS 87/287 Dumas a great fit for any national distributor seeking ways to reduce their transportation costs. That's not just our opinion--US 287 is one of the most important north/south arteries in the nation, demonstrated by the choice of countless carriers who use it to move goods and services from Mexico to Canada and all points in between. Formation of the Ports to Plains initiative, the leading trade corridor in the U.S., as well as large-scale transportation efforts by the state mean that excellent, well-maintained roads lead to and from our city.  Also connecting Dumas is Hwy 87, making a route to New Mexico, Colorado and beyond easy.

One of the nation's most important east/west conduits, Interstate 40, is located just south of Dumas.

Dumas is a short drive from the international airport in Amarillo, which means that air transportation to all domestic and international points is close and convenient. Amarillo's Rick Husband International Airport serves American, Continental and Southwest Airlines.

The Rail Line is also important. BNSF has many lines that come through Dumas and Moore County. Texas NorthTNW Railcar Tracks Western (TNW) is a short line railroad in Moore County serving several local industries in the area. TNW runs over 40 miles of track and handles hundreds of cars daily. They received the 2008 BNSF Short Line Carrier of the Year Award and pride themselves in their ability to switch cars to the mainline within 24 hours. They provide 24-hour service and have a scale available for those that require it. Where many communities have a main line in their community and claim to have rail access, Dumas and Moore County can confidently say your business will get on the system. For businesses requiring rail access, nothing could be BNSF Lineeasier. Dumas EDC has an excellent relationship with TNW and we are both committed to attracting new industry to the area. Numerous properties can be found adjacent to TNW's system and they are prepared to accept your rail car traffic for movement onto the BNSF main line. Located just north of Dumas, TNW will work with us to develop side tracks to new businesses or work off of existing rail. Give us a call to learn more. We are ready and capable of serving your needs.
